I disagree with the speaker that out of the three nights of commemoration, i.e. the 19th, 21st and 23rd, if one had to pick one it should be the last one. And why would anyone during the time of the Prophet even have asked a question regarding which night when the 19th, and 21st gain their significance because of an event that happened much later, that of the martyrdom of Ameerul Momineen? Isn?t that why the 19th and 21st are important dates when he got wounded for the first time and later passed away 3 days later? Another point, Imam Ali a.s.hesitated to retaliate when this rebellion took place against him, because he didn?t want the blood of Muslims to be shed. But Aisha was not of his caliber. Her ego and envy of the Imam, led her to embark on this war against him. In the war, Aisha accompanied the rebel army in her camel-litter.[22] Professor Leila Ahmed claims that it was during this engagement that Muslims fought Muslims for the first time.[23] Battle ensued and Aisha's forces were defeated. Aisha directed her forces from a howdah on the back of a camel; this 656 AD battle is therefore called the Battle of the Camel. According to William Muir, 10,000 people lost their life in this battle, with each party bearing equal loss. In the three days after the battle, Ali performed a funeral service for all the dead from both parties The combat had lasted 110 days in total.
