Imam Ali lived his life in absolute obedience to Allah and the Holy Prophet (S). He was merciful amongst the believers and firm against the disbelievers, fighting like a lion. The true courage of a Muslim is in his ability to be patient. Can you master your nafs (self)? It is no coincidence that Imam Ali (A) ascended to Allah in these blessed nights of Qadr. For certainly, spiritual ascension has an effect on the physical realm as well.
